The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, December 2003

This window was created in just over 48 hours, and featured a Hobbiton bookshop. The window was painted from the inside, and trompe-l'oeil bookcases were painted for the backdrop. Inside, there was hobbit furniture, quills and ink, paper, a money box, some food, and a great many books, including Middle-Earth classics such as Shire Cookery, the indispensable and monumental classic by Fredegar Bolger (middle), and Frodo Hill - Memoirs of a Young Hobbit of Pleasure by Anonymous (right, in the middle). Also featured were Royal Duty by G. Wormtongue (right, on the left), The Real Queen of the Forest - a Life of Haldir Marshwarden, and Don't Go There - a Traveller's Guide to Mordor.

Bledisloe Cup window dressing competition, July 2004

For this competition, we created a dummy of George Gregan, the Australian captain, who was injured and would therefore miss the match against the All Blacks. We created a living room for him in the window, where he could sit and watch the game with a chillybin of Victoria Bitter and some helpful books (Rugby for Dummies, Treat Your Own Backand How to Watch a Game of Rugby). The window took about four hours to create, including the dummy, and was a great success with customers and judges both - it won first prize.

Miscellaneous

On the left is a small display for Bitter With Baggage Seeks Same, a photo book featuring captioned photos of little plastic chickens. A homage, if you like, to Antony Gormley's Field installations.
In the middle, a chalk board for Nigel Cox's
Tarzan Presley.
Finally, some stacked books in the New Releases area of the shop.
