The Boss Ge-7 EQ pedal is GREAT for tuning your tone! You can also use it as a pre-amp for acoustic guitars equipped with only a piezo pickup and no on-board preamp.
With the GE-7, you can make your jazz archtop sing like a Strat, if you want. With 7 bands of EQ, it takes some fiddling for each guitar and amp combo you use to get the tone you want for that moment. The nice thing is that you can remember visual shapes of the EQ settings to easily reconstruct the custom settings you develop.
The manual comes with a number of suggested settings for a variety of tones from rock to jazz. So, if you don't want to play with the GE-7, just use the suggested settings.
