Exercise #1:
Using ftpsearch.lycos.com, search for
FTP files (of any type or All Files) related to the following terms and note
whether you received any hits:
- Psychomotor Skills
- Sociopathic Behavior
- Ligaments and joints
- Health Food
Now take those same terms and apply a WWW search using
Dogpile.com
and note whether you get any hits:
- Psychomotor Skills
- Sociopathic Behavior
- Ligaments and joints
- Health Food
Between FTP and WWW, which resource gave you the most number of hits?
Which resource was either highly lacking or under-indexed?
Exercise #2:
What is the first file listed listed under the pub folder (aka directory)
and then the "atool" folder on ESRI's FTP site?
If ESRI's WWW site is www.esri.com, what
do you think ESRI's FTP site is called and what would be the
entire URL?

Next, goto the Library of Congress gopher site
and note what happens.
