Downes Illustrious Potentate Subj:    OBELISK TEMPLE #187 VISION 2001               Nobles,  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce and share a vision that Obelisk Temple will see under my tenure.  I would like to thank all the Nobles who had the faith and confidence in my abilities to lead your  Temple.  A copy of the agenda for this year will be sent to you before the end of this month.  I am requesting your total support in the operation of your Temple.  We are  in a very unique situation when it comes to generating revenue;  we are now under tighter restrictions for conducting fund raising events on certain camps.  Nobles there are over fifty different organizations that are competing for the same market with this Temple when it comes to raising funds.  Dues alone cannot do it !!! I am asking for every Noble to make a one time voluntary contribution to your Temple in the amount of $ 25. 00.  This money will be used to regenerate our operating funds.  I am also calling on every Noble to send in their annual dues now.  We are a business and part of being in this realm involves paying taxes on the current membership. We cannot do it without the support of the membership.  Before we can show the community what the Shriners are all about we must get our house in order.  We have and will always learn from the past but we must also plan for the future.  Obelisk Temple is the cornerstone of Nobility in the Far East.  We have to live up to and exceed this reputation.  We must foster harmony with every Man, Mason and Noble we are not Gods and our conduct and actions will never reflect that.  But we must strive to attain a sense of dignity and honor that others will emulate.  Mature Men of Action that’s what this all about.  Our meetings will be Efficient, Productive and on Time.  We will also have some good old fashion FUN!!!! The Officers of the Divan are here to carry this Temple to new heights.  I ask that you give them the same respect and support that you give to me.  I also charge All Nobles to provide that wise council to any Noble who may require it.  We have to stop taking everything on a personal level,  we are Professional’s in our jobs with our families and this attitude should be a standard in our dealings with each other. For our off island Nobles I charge you with the same responsibilities,  we will always foster communication with you and encourage you to do the same. Our organization can only grow with the trust and support of each and every one of you.  It’s not about the title it’s about the character of the man. We must actively Recruit for new membership,  Retain all Nobles within our Domain and Reclaim the Nobles who may have lost some of that Fire!!!!!!!  I am a Man of action and words and I charge each and every Noble to push for my success because I represent you and you represent me. We are in this together Nobles as a family, but remember you are also charged with maintaining a healthy balance with your other families too.  BE CAREFUL OF YOUR THOUGHTS: THEY MAY BECOME WORDS AT ANY MOMENT.
