RESERCH PAPER/REPORT

 

§  TOPIC

This project requires you to apply Organizational Behavior concepts.  You must relate your project and findings relevant to OB topics.  You may pick one of the following project choices. 

 

1.      Organizational Culture Analysis.  For this project, you will pick an organization or a clearly identifiable part of an organization.  You will describe the culture of that organization including its hidden (values, norms, and beliefs) and visible elements (symbols, heroes, stories, and rituals/ceremonies).  Your analysis can be based on a combination of interviews, evaluation of documents, and/or surveys.  You should describe the nature of the organization's business.  You should comment on the appropriateness of the culture for the organization.  Recommendations on how to improve current or future organizational practices that are based on the findings are mandatory.  

 

2.      Leadership Survey and Analysis.  For this project, you will survey employees who work for an organizational leader (the leader can be from any level of the organization).  You will use survey results and other information if you wish (e.g., observations or interviews) to describe the leader's style.  You will describe the situation in which the person leads and comment on the appropriateness of his/her style for that situation.  Recommendations on how to improve current or future practices that are based on the findings are mandatory.

 

3.      Organizations such as Wal-Mart, Target, All Fast Food Chain Stores, All Airlines, All Groceries, are not acceptable for this class project.

 

§  REPORT

Complete a thorough APA style report and companion power point presentation.  Maximum length: 15 pages, double-spaced, typed, 12-point font, paragraphs of each page should only be separated by a single line, page-outline is 1” throughout (top, bottom, right, left).  Paper should be presented by using the following guidelines.

 

1.       Introduction: One page of general concept of such organization that student has chosen as a research topic. 

2.       Background of the problem: One page of the organization’s problem or objective and its’ development stages.

3.       Purpose of the Study: Clearly stated in 1 to 3 statements what the research will identify, analyze, and conclude the main theme of the research goals.

4.       Literature analysis: Should contain the concept of the purpose of the study then branch out subheadings.  It is imperative to apply the course concepts into your analysis.

5.       Finding: What the research study yield in relation to the purpose of the study.

6.       Conclusion: Did the research identify all the research proposed studies and analyzed them in a clear finding?  Any other alternatives or suggestions that you might add to enhance the outcome of the problem or objective of such organization.

7.       References: 5 or more references must be utilized.  References must be year 2005 or later.

8.       Paper must be enclosed in a Plastic Report Folder (with three prongs).  Cover page must include the followings:

1.      Title of Paper

2.      Course Number and Title

3.      Group members

4.      Date Due

9.       Power point presentation slides should be printed in Handout with 3 slides per page format.

10.   Do not hesitate to consult with the instructor, should you have any questions.

 

 

 

PRESENTATION

 

2.       In class presentation with a power point is required.  It can be presented by a representative or as a team. 

3.       Presentation length should be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes in duration and 8 slides or less.
