Day 11 Photos |

Not only did I have a fantastic time exploring the temples and historical sites in Tokyo, but I also was lucky enough to connect with a friend from my home town of Malden, Massachusetts. Julie Corcoran is living in a city near Kyoto. She is helping choose merchandise that will be sold at a new Universal Studios that is to be built in Japan. Julie and I branched out on our own and visited a textile museum and the Imperial Palace in Kyoto before heading down to another temple where we connected again with the other American teachers. We were all grateful to have Julie with us as she felt comfortable traveling around Kyoto and she was a wealth of information. (Thanks for everything, Julie!) |

We happened to view a fashion show of kimonos at the textile museum. |

Several sidewalks have lines painted down them. I believe they create lanes for cyclists. |

Julie and I signed a book in honor of the Empress Dowager who had just died. |

Many people ride bikes and motorcycles in Japan. Sometimes they are parked on the sidewalk. |
