1. On Board Program

Discussion
How to improve the discussion activity on Board?
(What will make us attend the on board discussion not only because it is an obligation for the PYs)

-Suggestion for admin stuff : They have to equip with some knowledge how to make a discussion interesting.

-Make an interactive discussion, how to give a good impression for discussion activity.

-To make a good impression for discussion, on the pre dept. training we have to tell the candidate of PYs about the discussion us not a “boring” activity, besides in the training they also have to prepare well for discussion in the respective countries.

-Make them familiar with the topics, and make a simulation of discussion during pre dept. training.

-Venue : Last time in the Dolphin Hall there were 3 groups in the same place which is not comfortable to do discussion.

-Timing : Put the right time for discussion, not during afternoon (after lunch) where PYs tend to be sleepy. Suggested time : Morning

-Topics : How to deliver the topics in the interesting and interactive way, Discussion Sub Committee have to prepare with such “curriculum” of how to run the discussion. This is also ask for admin stuff.

-English : To encourage PYs with lack of English still able to join the discussion, they need to be accompanied with other PYs who can deliver the message.

-Ice Breaking is also needed to the participants from getting board of discussion.

Cultural Performance

-At least one day apart, to give time for the country to prepare a rehearsal for preparing their Cultural Performance.

-To improve the knowledge of other countries culture, it is good to learn some basis languages of each country, in which they can practice during the national day on board.

Club Activities

-Arrangement of time, Many good club activities is run in the same time. This lesson the chances of PYs to learn about other club activities.

2. Country Program

Homestay

-Alumni who organized the homestay program need to organize it well, especially in matching the PYs with the host family,

Preparations for standard questions list for implementing homestay program.

Institutional Visit

-Is it possible to arrange the institutional visit based on the interest of the PYs, like what we had I Japan?

This is maybe difficult, because Japan is the best port of call in the program, so give a chance for Japan to arrange it. But for other ports of call maybe a little but difficult to apply.

There is a suggestion to arrange that, during the pre-departure training we have in our country.

Suggestions

-The possibilities of SSEAYP’s NLs and PYs to meet with the head of states in the country we visited, such as what we have experienced in Indonesia, in which Pres. Megawati greeted us.

3. Future SSEAYP

-What can we suggest for the Japanese Government?

Think of activity which will help SSEAYP become better in the future.

-We should work in our respective government that SSEAYP should continue in the future, but burden not only in the Japanese Government, but also all countries have to take some responsibilities too.

-How to make PYs also can learn the real life of the country during the homestay program, PYs not become the tourists, but really ambassador of goodwill who also shared the problem of the people of the county we visited.

-SSEAYP is not a tour or a cruise ship program but a program where the young people try to increase the mutual understanding between counties.
