1. Introduction Mountain Unicycling is a relatively new and uncommon sport which boasts the challenge and thrill of mountain biking and the good-natured fun of normal unicycling. Basically, mountain unicycling (also called municycling) consists of two parts: 1. Straining every muscle in your body, trying to get up steep hills, while still requiring excellent balance and concentration to avoid little pebbles and roots which will cause you to fall off while your muni goes rolling down trail, or (if you're unlucky) a steep cliff face. 2. Going down steep hills at extremely stupid speeds* (for a unicyclist) while still requiring excellent balance and concentration to avoid hitting little pebbles or roots which will cause you to roll down the trail or (if you're unlucky) off a steep cliff face. *From what I've read, it seems that some municyclists prefer to skip the extremely stupid speed part, but for me, this requires too much leg strength that I just spent on the ride uphill, so riding fast is much easier.Parts 1 and 2 are done alternately with breaks to do numerous activities such as: a. Stopping to rest your weary bum, because you WILL be saddle sore. b. Resting your leg muscles who hate you and are about to go on strike. c. Retrieving your muni which just fell off the cliff and/or pulling yourself up the cliff. Scared yet? Or does this sound like loads of fun? If you're anything like me, you're probably itching to go try this right now. If not, maybe you should read on a little bit, and see if I can't convince you.
