This is where I talk about what I feel is important: Politics, Life, Family,
Walmart
Ok, for years now I have not heard a whole lot of good comments about Walmart.  The majority of the comments I have heard is that Walmart does not care about their impact on the neighborhood or community or they do not care about the welfare of their frontline empoloyees (i.e. cashiers, greeters, shelf stockers, etc.).   I for the most part had chosen not to shop at Walmart because of these stories.  Now I understand why Walmart would have this reputation from personal experience.

The company I work for replaces siding on commercial buildings.  It is not an increadibly noisy construction site.  (We install stucco or synthetic stucco.  Kind of like a hardy plaster for the outside. The only noise involves applying the material to the side of the building.  Like a heavy sweeping sound.)  We have a current job that is located at a hotel.  This hotel hosts difference conferences for different clients on a weekly basis.

A couple weeks ago, Walmart had a conference at the hotel we are currently working on.  They complained about the noise from our work, eventhough, we were working on the opposite side of the hotel from the conference area of the Hotel.  We do not start until 8am in the morning.

Well, Walmart threatened to leave the hotel, cancel the conferences they had scheduled at other locations for this Hotel chain if the construction continued for the rest of their conference.  This threat was made on Monday Evening.  The owner of the Hotel decided to bow down to these Walmart executives.  Our guys were told to leave the job on Tuesday Morning, without notice given to us.  These guys are paid only for the hours they actually work.  They are compensated with a vacation fund instead of paid time off.   If they are not working they receive no paycheck.

Walmart was not at all concerned that their actions would cause these guys to loose the majority of their weekly pay.  Walmart has show that they care nothing for anyone else's concerns.  I have never shopped at their stores and I never will, but now I will do my best to tell this story to help others learn that their support of Walmart has very far reaching arms.

Not only does Walmart not care about the welfare of their frontline employees, but they do not care about any employees.
