Entry for September 01, 2006

Well, it is September 1st already.  I took a couple vacation days off from work in order to paint my living room.   I am posting the pictures that I took when I was looking through for a place to buy.  When we are done, which won’t be until Monday, because it is going to be too hot later today and this weekend, I will post the finished pictures.

I have painted the Diningroom, hallway and my bedroom already, which you can see if you go to my pictures and use the pulldown menu for home.  I haven’t painted Jake’s room because he doesn’t want it painted.  It will have to wait for him to move out.  ;o)  The bathrooms are my next painting project.  They are on the small side, but will be hard to paint.  Only one person can do it at a time, there just isn’t enough room.

I love being a homeowner.  I get to paint whatever colors I want.  I get to actually hang things with screws.  The only downside is that I bought a condo, so I can’t do much to the outside.  I do have a little patio area, but I have been waiting for them to replace the gate since I purchased my place.  The 25th of this month will be 6 months.  The upside to purchasing a condo is that I don’t have to maintain the yard.  I love flower gardens, but I dislike having to mow and maintain lawns.

When I purchased this condo, it came with bamboo growing in the area that I want to make my flower garden.  We have been cutting the bamboo shoots all summer.  I hope that one day it will stop growing so that I can start on my raised garden.  Everyone in the condo association was happy that I didn’t want the bamboo, but I wonder why they let the previous home owner plant it.  She didn’t just plant it here in the patio area, but also out in the commons area.

If anyone has any solutions to my bamboo problem, I would love to hear it.
