Odie and Panther ![]() Wow, what a great week for break from school. Odie has been in our house for almost two weeks now. He certainly has grown. He is definately a puppy, but he is learning quickly. He weights 4 lbs. He has a great personality. He is inquisative, but he knows that the word means that he did something he was not suspose to. Right now I am trying to teach him, "Leave it".
He is doing pretty good with his leash and harness, but we are working on building up his stamina. This last weekend, he made it to the swimming pool and then out onto the driveway, then back home. This is approximately 1/4 mile. When we got back home, his tongue was sticking out of his mouth and he pretty much colapsed for about 10 minutes, but then he was ready to run around the house. Ok, now for the rest that is going on in this week. Jake's cat Panther, after years of being an inside cat, has left the security of our place for hours at a time. Well, at sometime in the recent weeks he got in a fight. (OK, so he has been in more than one cat fight.) This fight resulted in an abbess. Well, it was off to the vet on Friday. He came home Saturday morning and has been a horrible paitent since. The wound is just under his jaw, and he has a collar to protect the wound. He hates that he is not able to get out of our patio area. He hates the collar. He is just generally unhappy. He has been eating, but he had not drank water, so yesterday it was back to the vet. The vet, thinks that he should improve with a couple more days of anti-biotics and should be drinking, otherwise it will be back to the vet on Wednesday. Well, with two very needy animals in the house, there is no way one person can be alone for any length of time. Luckily Jake has a great friend, who has stayed for these first two days of the work week. The unfortunate part is that Panther will not be allowed to go back outside and roam until the weekend before the 4th of July, which of course is the one weekend where you are suspose to keep your animals inside, because of all the fireworks. Life is wonderful. 2006-06-20 18:18:58 GMT

That picture is about 5 years old. He has grown out of the nail polish, bracelets and even the chain attached to his wallet. I believe in letting children express themselves in ways that are not permanent. Now he looks pretty normal, except his hair is still kind of long.
