Panther's Tale of Woe ![]() Yippee it is Friday!!!!
I have made it through another week and what a week it was. I have changed my schedule at work to accomodate the summer school schedule. So, it is up at 5am. Take Odie outside, usually a walk but some mornings he is not interested, like this morning. Some mornings we are out walking until 5:30am. This morning Odie was definately not ready for a walk. We ended up back inside at 5:20am and he was back asleep by 5:30am. It was so peaceful but I couldn't go back to sleep, I had to get ready for work. Today should be the end of Panther confinement. He goes back to the Vet to get his stitches out. I am sure that he will be looking strange prowling tonight. His fur has barely grown back to make his skin look darker. He has two bald spots on his front legs plus the majority of his neck. During this past week, Panther has been feeling better and better every day. Panther is a cat that loves to prowl at night. Every evening, as the sun was setting, Panther would start meowing at the patio doors. He would then go out and make a bee-line for the gate. (The gate has a cat size hole in its lower left side. Right now I have a rock that blocks his escape route.) So, he then comes back in and meows at Jake and myself. He can be placated for little moments with some extra attention, but then he remembers that he really wants to be outside, so the meowing starts again. The second time, he is not so easily placated. When he realizes that he is being ignored, he raises his volume and also begins to meow at the gate. Of course, I do not want to subject my neighbors to his wails, so I bring him inside and shut the door until he can no longer fit through it. When he realizes that he is not getting anywhere, he will then go find a place to sleep. Then it starts all over again in about an hour or if anyone walks around the house. The only saving grace is that when the whole house is asleep, he seems to be content with just looking the front window. Panther was a complete inside cat until we moved and he figured out how to get out our little patio area. Now that he has knowledge of the outside world, he does not seem to be content being an inside cat. I hope that Panther has learned his lesson about fighting with other cats and will just let them have their ground. 2006-06-30 17:19:45 GMT
