This is where I talk about what I feel is important: Politics, Life, Family,
Misc Peeves
Ok, there are a few different peeves that I want to discuss.  The first is:  I have finally figured out 1 dislike of my new neighborhood.  There are TOO MANY people who go over to Washington or to an Indian Reservation to purchase their fireworks.  Oregon has a pretty conservative law in regards to fireworks.  Sparks from a firework can go no higher than 6 feet.  Ground blooms are not allowed because they travel, but snakes are ok.   While I really don't like fireworks, I have nothing against others who light them off, except when there are continual illegal fireworks being shot off for over 3 hours.

The neighborhood show started at 8:30pm but did not end until just before midnight.  I had run out that evening and saw police just driving the neighborhood and not giving out tickets for the illegal fireworks.  If people don't like the fireworks laws, then they need to work to change it.  If the Police don't want to enforce this law, then why do they get the right to pick and choose which laws to enforce?

My second peeve is bicyclists.  Today must have been my lucky day.  In the span of 5 minutes, I could have killed 3 different bicyclists.  I was going to get my lunch, which means driving on a very busy street.  Two bicyclists were waiting at a T-intersection when all of a sudden they decided that they had the right to suddenly cross the street right in front of me.  Luckily I was slowing down as I was nearing the place to get my lunch.  The third bicyclist came out of the eating establishment as I was exiting the parking lot.  Since this establishment does not allow left turns from their establishment, I was turning right with my right blinker on.  The bicyclist decided that instead of getting behind me to wait his turn out he should sit on the right side of my car, where I couldn't see.  Just as I am finally able to enter the roadway I hear this thump on the side of my car.  This Jerk has to gall to be angry because he put himself in a place that he had no legal right to be.

Portland has been labled by some as the Bike friendliest city in the US.  That may be true, but these Bicyclists seem to have some real problems when it comes to obeying the laws of the road.  My personal feeling that Bicyclist need to go through a similar licensing process that motorists do, they also should be required to have liability insurance.
