This is where I talk about what I feel is important: Politics, Life, Family,
Abortion
Yesterday was a very active day in the Abortion Political Action Groups.  Nationally, the US Senate passed a law that makes it illegal to take a girl across state lines in order to obtain an abortion without parental permission.  In Oregon, a ballot measure was approved for this November's ballot, on requiring a 48 hour parental notification period.

I see two major flaws with both of these.  First,  It is already illegal to take any child across state borders without parental permission.  It is called Kidnapping.  Why does the US government have to create all of these redundant special laws?  I am sure it is to get votes for being ____ in the eyes of the voters, but I think that it is a huge waste of Money.   How is it that American's do not see through the rhetoric?

Now on to the Oregon Ballot measure.  Oregon has had a law that states any child 15 and older has the right to seek medical treatment without a parents permission.  This is for any kind of treatment from innoculations to having surgery.

I truly find it Ironic that the American public is all for teenagers being tried as adults, but when it comes having abortions, parents want to have more rights than their children do.

I could go on and on about this subject, but I will just end my rant with the following thoughts:

1.  If parents have a close relationship with their children than they would know that their children are thinking about becoming sexually active or are pregnant.

2. Part of growing up is to teach them to be responsible for themselves.  A part of this responsiblity includes not creating unwanted children in the first place.

3.  The more that you try to control your children's lives the further they are going to run.

I make these statements from experience.  First from being the daughter of controlling parents and second as the Parent of an 18 almost 19 year old son.
