Migration, Identity and New Information Technology

Closing Statement

Closing remarks: Professor Julian Hine, Translink Professor of Transport, University of Ulster.

The Odyssey 2004 has been a lively and interesting opportunity to connect the social dimensions of transport with the new opportunities and threats afforded by technology.

The combination and variety of interests, skills and perspectives present at this Odyssey generated from different disciplinary backgrounds has produced a rich array of products. These provide a fertile ground for further developments. Presentations from this Odyssey will be further refined and taken forward to the "Accessibility, mobility and connectivity: changing frontiers in daily life" stream at the World Congress of the International Institute of Sociology, Stockholm in July 2005.

All that remains is for me to thank the many visitors both physical and virtual who have produced such stimulating discussions of policy and praxis.
