Tenerife 1999

Winter of 1999. Time for a change - too cold in Austria. Let’s hop on a plane and go South.

Find a nice window seat and a friendly captain…

Mike playing radio from a great location!

Can’t leave Tenerife without hiking at Teide National Park.

Mount Mercedes at the northern tip of the island is a spectacular place. While the sun is shining in the South of the island, clouds and fog veils the rocks of the North. Hard to get there via a long and winding road, but worth the view.

Crossing over Mount Teide, the highest mountain of Spain, gets you to the east coast to Puero de la Cruz, where zillions of Germans reside, spending the winter months away from home.

The Finger of God is an interesting looking rock formation in Teide National Park, with the snow covered slopes of Mount Teide in the background.

Salva, one of Mike’s radio friends, treats us to a typical Canarian dish. Surrounded by his friends, we enjoy a great morning at La Laguna.

Too soon it is time to go back, to the snow and ice of wintry Austria. Hope to get back before long and see another one of the “pearls” of the Canaries.
