My Grandfather had a Jeep, my Dad's on his third Jeep, me I didn't want one...Years later, I caved. I didnt yet understand the Jeep Thing, or even knew it existed. But, I bought a used '97 Jeep SE. I was quite happy with my little Jeep...but hadn't caught the illness yet. But I started to notice something was different. My wife & I went skiing, and a guy offered to take our picture in the lot. Taking the picture, he stated, "Don't worry, I got the Jeep in there too; I know how you Jeep people are." |
Then one day, a friend calls & mentions something about CampJeep. He also mentions Blue Mountain Jeep Alliance. Not sure what he's talking about, I say ok. We go to a B.M.J.A meeting. That's it. I'm getting the bug. Knowing we're going to this camp thing during the summer; I decide that I want a bit of lift & bigger tires. I go for the ProComp 2", and a set of 32" Swampers. I also get a Olympic Grille Guard, tow hooks & a set of Hellas....& took the bumper ends off. |
I'm pleased, for a short time. CampJeep rolls around. Jeeps Jeeps & more Jeeps! Wow! It's also there, that I get my first taste of "'froadin". True, not hardcore at all. But hey, we don't all need to be hardcore to be a Jeeper! |
I then decide I'll go to Paragon Adventure Park, (PAP) with BMJA. My first "real" time. |
I'm far from a mechanic. Never even changed my own oil. But there's something about my Jeep...I don't like anyone else to work on it. If there's a job too big for me, I'll find someone to help, but I'm not dropping it off anywhere; I want to have hands on. The benefit, is that I have more pride in my Jeep...(and I can fix what I break). No offense, but I would rather have a lower RATED JEEP and to have done the work myself, then to have a rock crawlin' beast thats been wrenched entirely by others. The same time that I began my Jeep Addiction, I also purchased a home computer. The two combined was trouble. Enough Jeep information to keep you busy for years...and more upgrade information!!! Since then... |
First, a bit of background... |
