Chapter Two

Akisame

She had spent the mornings walk thinking of all the possibilities. Which ever way would not be easy. She like Leena hoped it was as simple as a wish. She accepted Leena's statement. Knowing that the girls senses were better than her she only worried about why they were expected.

Sesshomaru

Sesshomaru peered off into the distance to see the tents. He looked at Leena. "Why do you think he has come to meet us?"

Taka

The young youkai leapt to a branch and climbed up a little higher. She called down to her companions what she saw. "Inu Yasha is there."

Leena

"He's you. Why would you be here?" Leena felt her normal feelings of uneasiness and anger towards Sesshomaru rising. Not the one beside her, but the one on the field before them. "Well Inu Yasha's with him so it obviously isn't to fight. But, there is only one way to find out." She started towards the field. "Well anyone else coming?"

Akisame

She had never seen Leena so jumpy and angry, she had always seemed soin control. Looking to her mate she whispered "Why is Leena so ....."

Taka

Taka leapt lightly to the ground, jogging to catch up with Leena. She heard Akisame's question but left it to Sesshomaru to explain. She hoped everything would go well and they wouldnt end up fighting again but prepared herself for the worst.

Sesshomaru

He gave Akisame a sad smile. "In her world, I have abandonded her, worse...her Sesshomaru attempted to take her life. It took her awhile to not turn her feelings for him at me but this Sesshomaru has shown her no goodwill but let us catch up with them and see what is to happen."

Akisame

"I knew he had abandoned her, but I had no idea he tried to. I know he's you, kind of... but what kind of father tries to kill his own child." Her anger rose. "And if the Sesshomaru of this world thinks for one minute, I'm going to stand by and.... ooh...." She started off trying to catch up with the Leena and Taka.

Leena

She felt Taka join her and was glad to have the pup at her shoulder. As they neared the tents she saw Sesshomaru standing beside Inu Yasha as they waited. Stopping in front of them she spoke "So what do you want?"

Sesshomaru

Startled by the display it took him a moment to get started. He caught up to Akisame quickly and put hand on her shoulder. "It's all right love, they've met with this Sesshomaru before and came away unscathed. I do not think he is here to fight us."

Taka

She stood beside Leena, holding her breath. The Sesshomaru of this world, gave her a cool look. After what seemed like an eternity he finally spoke. "My brother has told me of you. I have come to see for myself if it is all true."

Taka released her breath, glancing at Leena from the corner of her eye. Before either of them could say anything though Sesshomaru continued. "I have a meal prepared. We will eat first."

Leena

"Feh." Her eyes narrowed as she stepped up to this worlds Sesshomaru, "Listen and listen well, old dog. There is a human in our party. You raise one clawed finger to her."

"I told him about the woman." Inu Yasha inturrupted quickl. He was startled to see someone up in his brother's face. "Look why don't you and I go talk and..."

Leena turned to her Uncle's twin and spoke, "You vouch for his honorable intentions?" Inu Yasha nodded. "Ok so what do you want?" She knew her tone had softened as she spoke to Inu Yasha.

"Look he wanted to see if I was telling him the truth or not. He also doesn't like the idea of any Sesshomaru missing an arm."

Akisame

"I know that, husband. Please, don't tell her I said this, but I know that she isn't your daughter but .... I think of her as your daughter."

Sesshomaru

"I know," he said quietly, "As do I. Come, lets see what he wants." They joined their companions, who stood before the Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru of this world. He found it very strange to be looking into his own face. His twin stepped up to him, without a word, merely the cold gaze that he himself once wore. He wasnt sure what to say, what does one say to oneself? As he pondered the ordeal the other Sesshomaru, drew Tensaiga. He could feel the swords pulsating power as Sesshomaru raised the sword and slashed it through him. He closed his eyes as the warmth traveled through him, concentrating on his missing arm and when the feeling went away, he raised his new hand, staring at it.

Taka

Akisame and their Sesshomaru joined them. The Sesshomaru of this world had not said a word while Leena cautioned him against hurting their friend, nor when their own Sesshomaru joined them. Taka watched amazed as the fingers appeared from inside Sesshomaru's previously empty sleeve. After completeing the deed, the still frosty Sesshomaru sheathed his sword and turned, his long silver hair wiping around. "Come, we will eat now."

Akisame

She watched as her Sesshomaru raised his new hand up to study it. She smiled until she saw Leena turn and walk away. She could almost feel the sorrow from the girl. Patting Sesshomaru's shoulder, she smiled and inclined her head towards Leena. Then she followed the girl. When Leena finally stopped on a hill, she heard her humming a soft song. "Leena?" she questioned softly "What is that song?"

Leena

"Song?" then she realized. "Oh it's just the lullaby Sango use to sing me when I was a child. Kagome taught it to her. Why aren't you with the rest?"

Akisame

"Because, I have a friend who needs me. Even if she isn't ready to talk about it. So why not sing me the song."

Leena

"Ok." Sitting she began to sing the lullaby that wouldn't be written for almost a hundred years.

Akisame

She listened to the words of the song and the beautiful pure tones of her friends voice.

Taka

She followed quickly after Leena, hearing the last verses of the song. She knew the cause of Leena's pain and didnt know what to say to make her feel better but she knew that she had to be by her side right now. Taka knelt on Leena's other side. "That was beautiful."

Sesshomaru

Sesshomaru's happiness at having his arm back was dampened by Leena's aprupt disappearance. He had a feeling he knew what caused the woman's mood. He bowed to this worlds Sesshomaru thanking him and asking for his leave. "We will return in a moment."

The Sesshomaru nodded and he walked to the place where the three women sat. He knelt behind Leena and Akisame, putting his hand on Leena's shoulder. "Are you allright Leena?"

Leena

"Thank you, Taka. I will be." She felt her friends concern. She couldn't look at any of them, nor could she stop the silent tears the rolled down her cheeks. To many dark shadows had crossed her life and soon the lights of these friends, whom she had traveled with, fought with, faced life and death with would end. She didn't even know if she would remember them. Silently she watched the sun set. Knowing that they would stay with her till she had the strength to return to the tents.

As twilight faded to be replaced by the pale light of the full moon, she rose, wiping her face. "Come on, I'm starving, and I for one am glad we don't have to hunt tonights dinner."
