| Mithros Mithros is the god of the sun, law, and war. Every country worships him to some extent. He is the main male deity in the Eastern Lands. The Goddess is his consort & co-ruler. He is usually depicted as a black man in gold armor holding a spear with a white hot tip. The Goddess The Goddess is the patron deity of women and also of the moon. Her temples are scared places where abused women can seek sanctuary from men. She has a voice that sounds like "the baying of hounds and the call of the huntress on the hunt" according to Alanna who is one of her Chosen. She is depicted as a beautiful woman with emerald eyes and full, red lips. The Black God He is the God of Death and because of that he has his own realm, the Realm of the Dead. He comes to earth when people die and appearently takes their souls to his realm to be judged. He is seen wearing a black cowl that obscures his face. Gainel (The Dream King) Gainel is in charge of dreams. He has many creatures that he uses to give humans interesting dreams. Like mortals, he is half chaos. He's only allowed to speak to mortals in dreams. He appears as a thin, pallid man with dark hair and a black cloak (which he once loans to Daine). The Graveyard Hag She is the daughter of the Black God and patroness of Carthak. Her symbols are rats, dice, and hyenas. She supposedly cheated at dice. She usually appears like an old woman with an eye patch and some missing teeth. Weiryn A lesser god of hunting. He is usually worshipped in forested, mountainous areas. He also happens to be Daine's father. It is from him that she gets her wild magic. He has horns like a deer and wears only a loincloth. His skin is tan w/ a greenish tint. Sarra (The Green Lady) Daine's mother. When she died, she became a minor goddess of healing. She is worshipped in Galla, esp. in Snowsdale where she & Daine lived. She has blonde hair and wears green when appearing as the Green Lady. Kyprioth (The Trickster) He was the patron god of the Copper Ils but Mithros & the Goddes kicked him out & regulated him to the rule of the sea only. Since he's the trickster, he can be a rather slippery character, as Aly discovers in TC since she's one of his chosen. George has had dealings with him also. He usually appears dressed like an islander in turquoise with a lot of jewelry. Crows are sacred to him. Uusoae (The Queen of Chaos) She's the closest thing we have to a devil in the Tortallan Pantheon. She rules the Realms of Chaos which border the Divine Realms and consist of terrible creatures like the skinners as well as violence & discord. She is always changing her appearance but for the most part she looks like a woman in an orande dress. Periodically she tries to take over the Mortal & Divine realms. |
