"LOST AND DELIRIOUS" DVD: Rage More, Motherf***ers! (reviewed by AX)

There are 3 possible reasons why you might be interested in seeing "Lost And Delirious". Reason #1: You are a dirty, dirty man who is hoping to see the chick from "Coyote Ugly" get naked and make out with another young girl. Reason #2: You are a lesbian, and you watch any movie where girl/girl love is the theme. And Reason #3: You are a fan of independent film, and you enjoy seeing "artsy fartsy" movies all the time. Although I don't fall into any of these categories, I can say that everyone I just mentioned would be 100% satisfied with "Lost And Delirious". Me? I just dig seeing a girl with a sword recite Shakespeare on bended knee. That image alone was all I needed to see to know that I was going to love this film.

"Lost And Delirious" is about a girl named Mary who goes to live at a girls' college, and quickly makes friends with her roommates Paulie (played by Piper Perabo from "Coyote Ugly") and Tory. Mary quickly discovers that her two roommates are romantically involved, and they trust her to keep it a secret. Unfortunately, Paulie & Tory get caught in a "compromising position" together, and the shit hits the fan big time. Fearing backlash and ridicule from her peers and family, Tory feels she has no choice but to break things off with Paulie. And further, she gives in to a boy's flirtations and enters a relationship with him. Paulie doesn't take any of this lightly, and begins a daring quest to win back her true love. Mary, meanwhile, is caught in the middle.

My description here doesn't begin to do this film justice. It is a powerful story, expertly directed by Mia Pool, and very well-written. This is a film about passion, about true love, and about the fire that burns inside us all. Piper Perabo's performance as Paulie will blow you completely away, she has such raw energy and you're right there with her the whole time as the story unfolds. This isn't just a romance, it is a total knockout of a movie. I tend to think with my heart rather than with my brain, so I really indentified with the strong emotions involved with this story. Watching this movie not only reminds you that it's still very possible to be moved by a well-made film, but that love is one of the purest and most volatile things about being human.

Since this is a DVD review, though, I have to give this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars. It would be a perfect affair, but there is nothing on the disc but a trailer for the film. That really sucks, because I wanted MORE! But as it stands, "Lost And Delirious" is a classic in every way, and if you have any soul or heart at all, it will KICK YOUR ASS.
