GRANDMA, DEFINITION OF.....

GRANDMOTHERS ALL OVER THE WORLD, WE LOVE YOU

YOU ARE:

The nurse who took over when Mommie worried about my fever, and bragged about my first tooth.

The Vanilla-scented lady that held me while telling my Grandpa how to fix my broken toy.

The one who held me for my first haircut; then, after calling tears "foolishness," stooped down to save a lock of hair.

The only one who had time to sit in her favorite chair while I sat in her lap--never any rush.

The picture of courage, blowing my nose and kissing away my tears on the first day of nursery school--never telling a soul we both cried like babies.

The banker who insisted I give of my small allowance to Sunday school, then slipped dimes in my piggy bank so I could have the softball after all.

The firm believer in "spare the rod and spoil the child," (with a switch "just in case").

boywtong"
The historian of horse-and-buggy days when I wanted to drive a car.

The "late reader" when I came back home from my first date.

The only family member who recalled choosing her mate without help.

The not-too-subtle spokeswoman, telling me what a beautiful grandchild I was and that my parents deserved the same thrill.

The memory whose teachings lead me to deal tenderly with my children, understandingly with my parents, lovingly with my husband, kindly with my friends and obediently with God.
