An Evening at the Cotton Club
Featuring the music of Duke Ellington, the Red Regiment delighted audiences and adjudicators alike with the energized show. A tribute to both 'The Duke'' and the Cotton Club establishment, spectators were taken back several decades to a different time in this country, where zoot suits and elegant ladies ruled. As the audience listened to Sophisticated Ladies, Caravan, Harlem Nocturne, It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing, and A Train, they also saw the street corner right outside the Cotton Club and a little further they saw the stage inside the club. The combination of visual and musical interpretation with the interaction of the group with each other and the audience proved to be a powerful hit. Our hats go off to such a group. If the first Osborne Band of this Milennium is any indication, these next years will be of so exciting.
