A Summary of Events and Topics of Interest to OHS grads and friends

February 18, 2003

IN THIS ISSUE:

Happy belated Valentines Day! Lots of hugs and kisses to you all! Not to much news this time. I haven't heard from Norma Allison Pernell, so lets all hope and pray her son is continuing to improve.

Surgery update: HURRAH! Finally got a date. Surgery will be Friday, February 28 at 10:30 AM. Surgery should take 11/2 - 2 hours, and home in two days. I'm celebrating by enjoying my last chance at my favorite foods, like cheese enchiladas and egg foo yung. It will be bullion and baby food for a while. Thank you to all of you who have sent encouraging messages and stories of successful bypass patients. It helps to know I'm headed in the right direction!

Thanks to Biff Gudmundsen and his help scanning the Skyline books, I now have both '66 and '68 Skyline Seniors available. This project is coming along nicely. There's been lots of positive feedback from those who have already received Yearbook CD's. Bob Chan, '71 is joining the cause and will be scanning other years. He has about 20 yearbooks ranging from the 20s through the 80s. If you are looking for a particular year, send me a request and we'll see if we can fill it for you. A copy of each yearbook CD has been donated to the Oakland Public Library History Room to complete their collection, and we will continue to support them. Right now, the available CDs are OHS '32, '36, '64, '65 with Summer Supplement and Reunion Yearbook. Also available are OHS '61 Seniors only and 40th Reunion Yearbook, and '63 Seniors only. Skyline Olympian '66 Seniors only, and '68 Seniors only. Also the '62 McChesney Yearbook. I will probably be doing '60 or '63 Oaken Buckets while recuperating, or I might venture off and start Fremont '65 or Skyline '65. Let me know if you'd be interested in any of these. Send requests to me at Bonburke@excite.com or bhulse47@yahoo.com. Those will be the only email addresses I will able to access from Feb 28 until to my return to work.

Bev Shulster Beiman '65 will be taking over the Email letter while I am away and recuperating. Please address all news, gossip, photos, etc, to Bev at bbevy@012.net.il, or send them to me at bhulse47@yahoo.com and I will forward them to Bev when I can. I truly appreciate your help, Bev. Bev is also the one who put together the new format for the newsletter and the website where previous issues are stored www.oocities.org/ohsnewsletter for viewing at any time. I have no talent in that area at all, and she's done a wonderful job. Again, thank you all for your wonderful comments on the new format! Thank You, Bev!

Hugs to all,

Bonnie

Last month we lost two more OHSers that we know of. Glen Tierney '56 on January 10, and Darlene Dare '64 on January 19. Condolences to all their friends and families.

The rest of the names and pictures that have been added are thanks to the perseverance and successful sleuthing of Bob Chan '71, who sent me a wealth of photos and names which have been added to the Memorial Pages.

Send additions, corrections, comments PLEASE to Bev Shulster
