A Summary of Events and Topics of Interest to OHS grads and friends

April 14, 2003

IN THIS ISSUE:

Dear All,

I am going to try and fill Bonnie's shoes just one more time before she gets back into the swing of things. As I understand it, she is going back to work soon, but I have no doubt she will be busy catching up with work before she has time to devote to the newsletter. Well, I'm sure her boss will think so anyway.

Just want to share some of Bonnie's triumphs with all of you. Since her surgery she has lost 32 pounds, but since she began the whole process and began prepping for the operation, she has come down a whopping 62 pounds from her high!! As she put it, she can now walk and breathe at the same time and when she gets on the scale now it doesn't pass the zero any more. Her doctor says she can eat anything but red meat, alcohol, and fried foods. The best part seems to be that the really unwholesome food has begun tasting as bad as it is unhealthy. Hopefully it will stay that way. Moreover, her sleeping has improved and she doesn't need the special sleep mask any more. Further joyous comment on this by me is unnecessary, and the stories in her own words will be priceless I'm sure!

Bonnie has no access to her work email at home, so anyone who wrote to her there will have to be patient just a bit longer till she gets back to work and gets some time.

Diana Fisch '66 writes that her son will be getting married in October. She is really excited about it and loves his fiance. I felt the same before my son got married, so I know what a wonderful feeling that is. Congratulations to Diana and family!

And just as a personal, final note in this newsletter about the war in Iraq -- the Minister of Defense in Israel declared today (Sunday, April 13) a downgrading of the war alert and all of us here are now advised we can leave home without our gas masks and we can dismantle our sealed rooms. In addition, both my sons are civilians again, one demobilized and the other's call-up orders cancelled. Hallelujah and God Bless America!!

Happy Passover and Easter to all,

Beverly
