The Occupational Health Safety and Research Bureau is committed to providing comprehensive specialized occupational health care of optimal quality, responsive to the needs of all industries and work places in Zambia. It aims to safeguard workers from occupational health hazards and to promote health and safety at work, targeting workers in all industries and work places.
The Workers Compensation Act No. 10 of 1999 (formerly Pneumoconiosis Act No. 217) currently makes it mandatory for miners to undergo :-
- Pre-placement (initial) medical examination
- Periodical (annual) medical examination
and it prescribes other compensable occupational diseases for control at places of work and for determination of certification for purposes of compensation.

The medical examinations and facilities at the bureau are now being made available to the general public, farmers, self-employed, small and medium scale business enterprises and to companies other than mines who are concerned about health and safety
at their work places.

Heart Screening (ElectroCardioGram)
|
The medical conditions usually encountered in Executives caused by the stressful life they lead, insufficient exercise, and consumption of excessive food and alcohol could readily be recognised and diagnosed by our Executive Health Check Up program
and then necessary preventative or therapeutic measures could be initiated.

X-Ray (Radiography)
|
Your medical reports will be processed within 24 hours monitored by a senior doctor and discussed at the review, on the following day. If your doctor thinks specialist opinion is required, you will then be advised accordingly.
Strict confidentiality is a key principle and set procedures will be applied to preserve it. The accent will be on convenience and time.
