Hasedera Temple, Kamakura - Kanagawa Prefecture.

Kamakura is 45minutes by train from Tokyo and is the quickest way to experience (ahem) "the real Japan". This was in the corner of the temple grounds that made up a kind of Bhuddist theme park. The meaning of the front character eludes me, and mores the point, my dictionary*. Red pole is nicely juxtaposed against indigo banner, No?

*Cheers Mika Murata again "...the Kanji on the temple pole in Kamakura means "Dedication". This also can be used as a humble expression of "give".
