PLAYING THE GAME.
THE GAME; this can be HUNTING for game.like Moose .etc
Playing the Game: this is fun but you must be good and know when to attack.
Being the Game: not much fun , (unless you don't know your being attacked)???
This story took place over a distance of 1,000 miles.The time it takes to drive from Quimet Canyon; Thunder Bay Ontario Where I use to hunt Moose To London Ontario where we live.Driving time about 20 hours.It was in 1996,& 1997 .
To this day they do not know what Jim & I did to them. Even if we told them they would not believe us,That is how good a job Jim & I did. I hope I can tell this story right .You had to be there even writing it now brings a smile & a chuckle to me this is after 6 years so imagine how much Jim & I laughed then.
Players; Jim my friend & I,
The other players that were FREE GAME are Snoopy,Bill,Bobby,(not to be confused with me-okbob ) Dave,Randy,Steve & Mike.
Husband & Wife in camper & 1 Transport truck driver He comes later (no Name)
Background;
We had been hunting moose 30 miles north of Dorset on a login road.After setting up camp Randy & Dave borrowed Snoopy's chain saw to get some Go-Fer wood the loggers had left ( Go-Fer wood is a softwood like Spruce that you put on a fire then go fer more.) It burnes real fast..On the way back the chain saw fell off the trailer & was lost.
Along this loggin road there was perhaps 2 or 3 other camps.as there are hundreds of miles of roads to hunt. Did somebody else find the saw?????????? The real story starts when we started home .
1st Truck was Snoopy- Bill- & Bobby
2nd Truck Me & Jim
3rd truck Randy & Dave
Bret & Mike (had gone on ahead )
About 50 miles into the trip the FUN started;
Snoopy;Hay okbob & Jim slow truck ahead going to channel 19 & ask them to let us pass.We were on channel 13 because it is less used.
Jim ; ok let us know we will stay on channel 13
OkBob: Jim change channels & lets listen to what they are saying.
Jim changes to 19
Snoopy; hello truck ahead of us.
No answer
Snoopy; hello truck ahead of us.

Jim loves to disguise his voice.Now we start.Take no prisioners & we eat our Young. Ha LOL
I say to Jim, "well what are you waiting for answer them" , he start's to laugh!! he knows the game is beginning.A broad smile comes over our faces ,the look of amusement ,that twinkle in our eyes ,where can we take this conversation ,can we have some fun with our poor unfortunate friends?Time will only tell
Jim ;hello (shuts mic off ,starts to laugh more ;now has me laughing)
Snoopy;where you from?
Jim;(trying to keep from laughing out loud says) we are are from Hamilton Ontario(that's near London)
Snoopy;where were you hunting?
Silence,Jim & I just look at each other.
I say to Jim, tell them you were hunting 30 miles north of Dorset.Same road as we were hunting on.
Jim;We were hunting 30 miles north of Dors (can't finish laughing to much)
Snoopy; we were hunting up there too ,we camped at mile 25 marker.& you guy's
I say to Jim; Yea tell them that they must have been camped down where we found a chain saw.
Jim;(smilling from ear to ear chokes back His laughter & starts)Oh you boys were down where we found a chain s** (silence he can't get it out,tears are coming down my face,my sides are killing me.can hardley see to drive major pain)
When you go fishing you first get a bite.then you set the hook,now its time to Play the fish.
Where we hunted
Snoopy opens mike; Jim & I here.
Bill ;did they say chain saw? Bobby;yep & I heard a woman in the background laughing.
Snoopy now speeks into mic;Hay you guy's that's my chain saw.
I look at Jim , He can't talk yet & you know im not going to say anything to them.
Bill ; that's Snoopy's saw you found all we want it back ok!
Bobby;you better stop we want that chain saw now.
Jim & I still say anything to them. Then I say to jim , "We had better get back on channel 13 incase they call us."
Seconds pass
Snoopy on channel 13;Hay Bob & Jim those guy's in the truck ahead of us have our chain saw.
Jim looks at me still chuckling hands me the mic.
Okbob; What did you say? They have your saw!
Snoopy ; Yes they said they found one where we were hunting.
Okbob ; Wow that's weired are you sure?
Snoopy ; Yes they said they found one where we were hunting.
Okbob ; what are you going to do?
Snoopy ; going to stop them & make them give it back.
Okbob ; Well if your sure .We are going to change channels so we can hear what they say.
Snoopy ; on channel 19 now; Im going to pass you guy's pull over so I can get my saw back
No answer silence
Transport truck Driver ; looks like you boy's just lost your saw for good.
Snoopy passes them , They pass Snoopy.Snoopy passes them.Snoopy; Come on you people stop at Store in White River.
Snoopy drives ahead we follow then comes Randy & Dave.we pull into White River.Everybody stands around talking about what had happened,Except Jim & I .we walk over to a school bus converted into a hunting truck & start talking.Anything as to not have to face them. Bill & Randy walk over to us.when they start talking I interupt saying.Got to go to can , as I walk away I here Jim saying "Me to , talk to you later."
After finishing our buisness we walk to front door where Randy yells to us "they just drove right by they are getting away Snoopy is going after them come on hurry."
Okbob; We will catch up.
We drive in silence not wanting to catch up what had we done? As we get close to Wawa (that is a town about 100 miles from White River) we catch up.They had not done anything yet.Instead of going through to Sault st Marie the dirty rotted chain saw thieves turn into Wawa ,Snoopy turns, Randy turns ,so we turn also & as we do .We see a Cop to our right on the main Highway,He has a car pulled over .
Snoopy stops & yells to us ;Go get the Cops,we will catch up to the thieves & stop them .
Jim ; Ok we will get the Cops for you.
We turn in the direction of the cop but instead of stoping by him I park in a vacent Motel parking lot.Here we wait, the cop takes off back towards White River.
Jim ; like a beer.
Okbob; Good idea boy that was close good job that cop was on the other road & not the Wawa road.
Jim ; All we have to do is play dumb.Duh
Starting to get dark now.
Randy; (over CB ):Hey You guys we have stopped them at the gas station here where are you with the cops?
Jim looks at me :well,
I look at Jim ; Well looks like its time for another beer.
5 minuts pass
Snoopy: Hey Jim we have them ,They say they don't have our saw ,But won't let us search there camper.
Okbob; What do you think Jim?
Jim ;Hows your Beer time for another?
After sitting there for over 3/4 hour .
Okbob;Jim looks like they let the people go here they come.
they can't see us sitting in the old motel parking lot, they turn left onto the highway towards Sault St Marie.
Jim;About time can't believe those guys , talk about herd mantality.Ha Ha
Okbob ;Well lets get going ,anylonger & I would be way to drunk to drive.
Jim ;Hold on they are stoping.Darn look where they stopped.
I take a look down the highway about 200 yards.
Okbob ;Oh no they can't be I don't believe this!!
Jim ;Ha Ha Ha you ready for a Beer looks like we are going to be here for awhile.
They had stopped in front of the OPP station ( Ontario Provincial Police)
Okbob ;That's great we don't get the cops involved so they get there own.
Jim ;Can't see anybody going in yet lets just sit here till they move on.
Bill ;Over CB ;Bob we are at the OPP station where are you ,We are waiting for you (we have a rule never leave a truck behind always travel in a group)
Jim ;We didn't do to bad this year 3 moose & 5 hunters , bagged & tagged & still some more miles to go.
1/2 hour passes.
Okbob ;Jim they are pulling out ,they are not waiting for us ,its about time.
We waited 5 more minutes then head for the Sault.the rest of the trip there is peaceful arriving at the Sault, We Stopped at the Husky Truck Stop we see them.Getting out of our truck Jim asks me .What are we going to say we should be ready.
Okbob ;Don't worry leave it to me just follow my lead.
After getting gas up we walk into the Husky to face them & have a bite to eat .As there table is full poor Jim & I must sit by our self's.
Jim ;I can't look at them every time I look up , There they are ,You so & so you got your back to them.oh oh here they come.
Snoopy ;Hay guys where were you .
I interrupt him
Okbob;Don't even talk to us you know the rule Never leave a truck behind.you send us after the cops ,he had turned around & headed back towards White River it took us forever to catch him.While we are after him you guys leave us .
Snoopy ;We waited & waited we though you & Jim had gone on to the Sault.
Jim ;(not wanting to be left out) Yea;We brought the cop back with us you were nowhere to be found ,We had to go to the OPP station & fill out a report.
Okbob;(Boy here we go again ,you had to be there ) The cops name was Miller he said "that he would get ahold of you about your saw later, or you could contact him at the Station.
If you are reading this carefully we just opened another door!!!!!
The rest of the 8 hour trip down I 75 was quiet then 1 hour to London & finely bed.
Jim ;Goodnight Bob good trip Cops name is Miller . Where can we go with this?
Okbob ;Good night I'm sure with your help we will think of something.
The following Year we did; But that's a whole another story.

I hope every body has a good day & if you ever get to Northern Ontario & you see some hunters looking for a Chain Saw leave them alone ,(they are a few Bricks short of a full load )
