Welcome back, class. I apologize for my hiatus, and also for my lack of energy today. I have been feeling rather run-down lately. As requested, today I will be teaching you a water-repelling charm. This charm is easiest to cast on hard, solid materials, as they are usually fairly water-resistant to begin with. The spell is strongest when the object it is directed at is touched directly with the caster’s wand. We will be working with glass plates today, so be careful not to break them. To cast the spell, tap the plate lightly with - I said lightly! Do not chip them! Tap it lightly with your wand and say, “fontisara.” If done right, you should be able to sprinkle water on your plate and witness the water bouncing away without touching the glass. You will have the rest of the period to practice this, and I don’t want any broken plates or water fights. This should be a safe activity. I will be at my desk if you need anything. Next period, we will have an exam over the past unit, if all goes according to plan, so remember to study!

For homework, name two items upon which the water-repelling charm would be easy to cast, and two upon which it would not be so easy. Also, tell me when the charm is strongest and describe one possible use for it. More description earns more points. When owling me, please include your house so that the points will be added to the correctly.

Remember: For bonus points. . .
In an effort to make this class a little more exciting, and to let you earn some bonus points, you may mail me a description of something you think might happen or want to happen in this class. It may occur in either the current lesson or the following lesson. Please be fairly descriptive. You can include the original characters or your own. A link to my bio is located to the left, and you are more than welcome to make bios of your own. ^_^ If I can fit them in, I’ll put events in the lesson, thus turning my class into more of a story, but I think this will make lessons more fun. I can’t help it. I am a writer. . .
