July 16, 2000 I must say that the past week was very exciting in the world of fashion on One Life to Live. The women exuded class and style. The woman that jumped out and screamed "I'm unique" was Rene. When she was at the country club with Asa, she had on an outfit unlike any I had ever seen in the summer. This past winter, the look was all about layering. We were layering ourselves with short sleeves, long sleeves, vests, sweaters, jackets, ponchos...just about anything that would go together. Rene decided to layer herself with sheer, cool materials. If someone would have asked me if layering was a good idea in the winter, I would have said no every time. However, I thought that was a great statement. I don't know that I would have liked it on anyone but Rene though. It takes a special kind of person to make an odd fashion statement and pull it off. It's all in the way that you carry yourself. Roseanne always looks great, but this week she looked acceptional. Because of her dark skin tone, oranges and reds look great on her. It's okay to be daring and show some skin like she often does, but you have to make sure that you accessorize you outfit. With low cut tops or tube tops, you are leaving a lot of skin uncovered. To make up for the absent clothing, you have to wear the right jewelry or other accessories. Roseanne always makes sure that this is done. This summer, turquoise is in. Keep a look out for some on Roseanne. The person with the "Crazy Clash" of the week is Skye. Usually, I'm singing high praises to Skye because she is a very stylish woman, but she has to remember that she is a carrot top. Her hair does a lot to an outfit. She can't go around with "Judd red" hair wearing Periwinkle blue! First of all, color is back this season, and I'll be the first to give a "Hip, Hip, Hooray!" HOWEVER, when I say color is back, I mean color is back in moderation. You just don't go around in a purple suit!!! Secondly, you especially don't do it when it clashes with your head! Dark colors look great on Skye; black, browns, burgundies, olives. Stick to these, Skye. We don't want to have to wear sunglasses when we're watching our soap! The men were outstanding this week, especially Kevin. He's always wearing the perfect tailored suit for any occasion. Everything matches and just sort of flows. That is very important in men's fashion. You can't wear a black tie when your suit is navy blue. Also, ties have to be tied the proper way. This is very important. My "Crabby Complaint" of the week was Asa's tie at the country club. It was a great tie, and it even went well with his suit, but the knot was tied all wrong. It was very small and seemed to be climbing up his throat. That just doesn't look right, and it can't be comfortable. I think I speak for everyone when I say, "Asa, loosen up!" Fashion Diva
