This is an 'animated gif' that I made from two different photographs taken from similar viewpoints, about a year apart. If you view the larger image, you can really notice the difference in the number of buildings left after the 1932 fire. By this time, Bodie had already suffered a fire that wiped out a large portion of the town. This fire left the town nearly desolate. Approximately 300 buildings still stand today. That isn't many compared to the several thousand that once stood here. The main street was bragged to be nearly 1 mile long! You can see just how many buildings were brought to ashes before this blaze was gotten under control.
Imagine what it would be like to have the entire town still standing today...
