Incredibly, the day after I decided to download the contents of the Thringstone OnLine Guestbook it disappeared !! Thankfully, five years worth of entries are preserved here though unfortunately it has not been possible to retrieve all but a few private messages.

Dear Steve, Finally got round to visiting thringstone.com (wasn't sure if that meant I had signed in though?)
It really brought back memories of the state of the church when the roof was being repaired. I especially liked your before and after section.
It's strange to see pictures of vicars at the front porch, how much has changed??
Thanks for all your hard work, especially with s.club 1 last week, it went really well and the young people and the adults really seemed to enjoy it.

Many many congratulations on your upcoming birth of your soon to be child. Thats wonderful news.
Glad to hear the site will be still ongoing and will get back into fixing things when I get my own computer.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to say farewell to all the wonderful people here in Thringstone.
After living here for almost four years I have come to know a lot of the fascinating history of the village.
Although I may not live in Thringstone anymore, but will be back in Sydney Australia. I will still update and organise the web site.

I found my way to the Whitwick story by way of a google search for Thomas William Coulson, someone who appears as the 1904 landlord of the Hastings Arms. I don't know if the writer of the Whitwick story would know anything more of Thomas William Coulson but I think it possible that he is one who appears in our family, born in March 1863.
As I read the story I continued to puzzle over the location of Whitwick. It was only towards the end that a photograph of one pub revealed to me that it is in Leicestershire. I thought it had to be somewhere in that area from the occasional references to Loughborough but I didn't go and find an atlas in order to locate it. I think it is a good principle in all such stories, and I have looked at many of them, to make it clear at the outset just where the location is, country, county or state, etc. Otherwise one can read a long way without getting any inkling of such a basic fact. Hi Steve This is probably the strangest question you have been asked but here it goes...
I am trying to trace the cockpit section of a Vickers Viscount airliner that is/was supposed to be in the grounds of the Fox Inn in Thringstone, Leicestershire the registration is G-CSZB it was scrapped at Southend with the cockpit section supposedly saved. I have not been able to find out if this is correct as I have information stating that the aircraft was 78 scrapped. Can you help? All the best Nick

I am trying to trace the history of my great grandparents, William Blockley of "Upelwick", which I suspect is Whitwick, or part of it, and Elizabeth Heath of Thringstone. William was born 1842 or 1845, (records conflict) and Elizabeth was one year younger and they were married in Yorkshire in 1866. Two years on since I first signed this book, it is interesting to note that the pages comprising the TOL site have been accessed more than 10,000 times and the Nedstat counter has recorded visitors from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Sweden, Germany, France, Japan, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Mexico, Ireland, Cyprus, Italy, Finland, Israel, Portugal and Turkey !

I was born in Loughborough Road Thringstone and its great to see all the information being gathered and put together for this site.
Its very pleasing to know that Ron Goacher is involved, he is starting to input a lot of historical information into the site, some which I had forgotton about, I wonder if he will ever get around to mention some of the wonderful characters that Thringstone once had, especially through the years he grew up.
I was a member of Thringstone FC from the early 60's onwards, and would love to see some information and old photographs,not only from this era but even before that. If anyone is interested, I have some scrapbooks that contain newspaper articles and photographs of the time I played.

I am very impressed by your site and keep returning to it but this messge is to make a request. A few years ago I was one of those involved in publishing a book on the Whitwick Pit Disaster 1898 and tried to identify the men in the rescue party. All we had was a newspaper list giving an initial for each of the men. I wonder whether you could put me in touch with D.Gough who is writing the history of the Gough family. I know that S.Gough was Sidney a Thringstone man but have no lead on W.Gough.
