Sadly, the monument of John and Mary Ann Richards is now overturned and

(as can be detected from the above rubbing), some of the lead inscription has fallen out. Hopefully,

at some stage the stone will be restored and re-erected. Below is a full transcription:

IN LOVING MEMORY

OF THRINGSTONE
WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN THE
WHITWICK COLLIERY DISASTER
APRIL 19TH 1898
AGED 30 YEARS
BEHOLD HE TAKETH AWAY,WHO CAN HINDER HIM
WHO WILL SAY UNTO HIM, WHAT DOEST THOU
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
ALSO OF
MARY ANN RICHARDS
HIS BELOVED WIFE
WHO DIED MAY 11TH 1937
AGED 66 YEARS
