"Mother of Good Counsel, return to us. On the path of peace lead us"-

This prayer is from an ancient hymn to Mary honored as Mother of Good Counsel (mater boni consilii)  whose feast we will soon celebrate on April 26th.  It gives us good occasion to ask the Spirit of God through her interecession for good counsel in the questions, dilemmas and decisions that are most pressing for us personally and for advising us all how to find the path of peace:

Lord, you know that our thoughts on earth are full of fear and uncertainty; through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,from whom your Son took flesh and blood, send us the Spirit of counsel to teach us how to know your will, and to guide us in all we do. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We became aware in detail of this title of Mary through "The Hermits of Mercy", a  community of hermits and associates founded in New Brunswick, Canada more then twenty years ago (juridically an association of the faithful to which religious as well as lay persons belong).
