About Me

Hi there everyone x) As you may have guessed, my name's Alanna. I was born September 10th, 1986 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, I've lived my entire life in Cape Breton and absolutely love it here. I'm 5'9, with shoulder-length dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

I have an older sister - Meaghan, 22 - and a younger brother - Stephen, 17. They drive me insane, but I love them all the same; we have so much in common - mainly our mutual love of hockey - that we get along better and are closer than a lot of siblings. I guess we've learned that family is important - my mom has 4 siblings and my grandfather comes from a family of 14 children. Our entire family (my mom's side is mainly Italian, so there's a LOT of us!) get together at nearly every holiday and there's never anything more fun than all the Romeos in the same house, eating, talking over each other, arguing ... but you can feel the love, and if you ever come in for a holiday you'll be welcomed with open arms and fed til you explode!

I'm a bit of a geek, I suppose - ever since I was little I've loved reading, and writing what I now know actually has a name - and that name is fanfiction. xP My first 'real' storywriting came during an explosive obsession with Star Wars that's carried over, to a bit of a lesser extent, to my adolescence. I didn't like the idea of Obi-Wan dying in 'A New Hope' or training a doomed Padawan, so I pretty much rewrote the entire Star Wars universe. LOL Loads and loads of crossovers - I took anything I thought was cool out of whatever I could find - anime, other books, movies, TV shows ... and found a way to incorporate the best bits into what I cringe at now when I read them - a superhuman, overly-angsty hero, the most powerful being in the Universe with a heart of gold but a mean streak. Hahahahaha, It's embarrassing to read my own writing now. *sighs*

Anyway, I watch a great deal of the usual 'fandoms' out there, but so far I only write for Stargate SG-1; it's the only one that sort of 'speaks' to me right now. xP

Adding to the geekiness, I have a thirst for knowledge and absolutely love ancient history - particularly the history of ancient Egypt, Babylon, Greece and Rome. I hope to earn a PhD in some kind of ancient history and go on to be a professor at any university that isn't CBU. xP Writing isn't off the chart for me as a career choice ... I'd love to get something of mine published some day down the line, whether it's a novel or something borne of a career in journalism. x)

I consider myself easy to get along with, because I've been raised in such an open environment and have a great many interests in the most unusual - and the more common - fields. I'm more a tomboy than a "girlie-girl" - I've played sports my entire life; hockey, baseball, golf...and in elementary and junior high I preferred a game of rugby or intermurals at recess than playing make-believe with my girl friends. I love just about any kind of music there is - I make an exception for rap, because there isn't really any of that that appeals to me, I hate shopping with a passion, but like everyone's favorite Colonel, dogs are my favorite people. I swear, someday I'll have as much land as I can afford and completely fill it with every kind of dog you can think of. Every girl's dream. xP I have a keen interest in astronomy, which I was unfortunately unable to follow through to a career because of lousy marks in math and physics. It'll always be a hobby, though! I believe there's life on other planets, and I'd be the first one to greet them if they would ever grace Earth with their presence!! xP

I'm painfully shy around people I don't know, and tiptoe about so as not to make waves, but once I get to know you, watch out! I'm 'dry as a chip', as my grandmother tells me; sometimes brutally sarcastic, but with a sense of humor that will get anyone laughing. I love standup comedy and idolize the gang of Monty Python, I'm generally laid back and mellow, but with a bit of a short fuse when it comes to life on the hockey rink!!
