I once subscribed to a photographer's magazine that featured a monthly photo contest. Ever once in awhile someone would enter a beautiful nature shot, it made no difference if the photo was any good or not, they never won. Even when the critics praised every aspect of the photo, the bottom lines was always the same:
"It's just another pretty picture".

WHY
As the DragonFlies

.

Normally when we think of the majesty of nature our thoughts take us to place like Yellow Stone National Park. We often over look that which surrounds us everyday. Flowers, butterflies, insects and even weeds have their own special beauty. Sometimes we just need to slow down and take a longer closer look.

My photographs are an attempt to capture on film the beauty of nature in it's simplest form. Sights we pass by ever day but don't really SEE. No filters, no alterations, no manipulations, just simple and pure the way nature presented them.

For ease of viewing I placed some of my photos in a java slide show. They lose some resolution but all you have to do is click on the button below, sit back and watch. It's all automatic and continuous looping so when you have seen all you want just click 'back' to return here.

Why, As the DragonFlies?

Dragon:
A huge creature. Rarely (if ever) seen. A mythical creature of the fantasy realm. Seeing one people would run for their lives.

Fly:
A small creature. Seen much too often. A common creature of reality. Seeing one people would attack it.

To some Dragonfly would seem to be contradictory word. I rather see it as a balanced one.

Dragonfly:
A small creature, yet a large one as far as flying insects are concerned. Often seen around water but rarely seen elsewhere. It is of this reality but conjures up feelings of a fantasy realm. Seeing one people neither run nor attack.

As The DragonFlies:
I like to think of my photos as the dragonflies:
Striking a balance between what is common and that which is fantastic. Nature seen the way a dragonfly might see it: up close and personal.
