Simple Gifts

I first heard this melody played during a TV commercial and later as part of the musical score for the broadcast of the Olympic Games in Atlanta. There they credited it to Aaron Copland's 'Appalachian Spring' (actually it's about 3 min of it's nearly 19 min. running time). The insert to an Aaron Copland CD credit's this melody to a Shaker hymn called 'Simple Gifts'. There are many variations of this tune plus a few different song lyric to go along with them. In fact the midi playing on 'Of: Destiny and Dreams' is called 'Lord of the dance'. The one playing here is Simple Gifts. Following are the lyrics to 'Simple Gifts' and 'One with the force' (a new version with a 'Celestine Prophecy' theme).
Simple Gifts

'Tis the gift to be simple,
'Tis the gift to be free,

"Tis the gift to come down
where we ought to be,

And when we find ourselves
in the place just right,
It will be in the valley
of love an delight.

When true
simplicity is gained,

to bow and to bend ,
we will not be ashamed.

To turn, turn,
will be our delight,

'Til by turning, turning,
we come round right.

One with the Force

You are one with the Universe,
Be one with the Force.

You can't let your fear
say what you ought to be,

And when you open up
to the Force with-in,
This Energy will be
your path and your guide.

When you're
connected to the force,

to fear and to hate,
you won't find the path

To give love,
you gain what you give.

It's thur giving, gaining ,
we free the force.
