Keen tennis player and golfer trying to play both weekly if possible. Also enjoy running, cycling, and swimming. A fitness enthusiast with a love of exercise. Currently reading "FRONTPAGE 2002" by K. Chinnathambi and "LOOK WHO'S TALKING" by Hap Hannan. The latter is a very useful guide to public speaking in Australia published by Sandstone Publishing.

Why he joined ONE NATION:-

Driving a taxi around Sydney one day a week made him aware of what the nondiscriminatory immigration system was doing to the once pleasant city. Having to teach obnoxious young ethnic males in his TAFE economics classes also made him become totally opposed to the nature of the current immigration system. As a teacher in a large TAFE college he encountered the attempts by the NSW Education Department to implement various aspects of multicultural thinking about the education system. He agreed with everything Pauline Hanson said in her maiden speech in September 1996. When he saw an ad in the Sydney Morning Herald in February 1997 advising that PAULINE HANSON'S ONE NATION was going to be registered with the Electoral Commission he decided to join. He thus became member number 467 in May 1997. Later that year he obtained a list of party members in the upper north shore and called a meeting in the Thornleigh Community Centre to establish the Berowra Electorate Branch which soon grew to be one of Sydney's largest PHON branches. Soon appointed Ryan Branch Secretary after moving to Brisbane in late 1998. He worked on the 2001 Queensland election as state policy co-ordinator. Also national policy co-ordinator for a while. Now state webmaster for www.qld.onenation.com.au.which is currently under reconstruction into an attractive cascading site..

Beliefs and Opinions:-

Totally opposed to the body of contemporary political thought collectively known as political correctness. Supports Pauline Hanson on most issues. Worked for the NO campaign in the Constitutional Referendum in 1999. Supports the idea of a republic but thinks each state and territory should have a referendum to change their constitutions into republican ones first. Then a national referendum could be held to establish a national republic with a directly elected President with a lot of power and security of tenure. Thinks migrants should assimilate as quickly as possible into Australian society. Thinks multiculturalism should be abandoned thus converting SBS radio and television into a media section of OPEN LEARNING AUSTRALIA. Thinks the immigration system should return to being a discriminatory system with at least 90% of migrants either coming from English speaking countries or being fluent English speakers. Thinks the Migration Act should be amended so that it states right at the start that the sole purpose of having a migration system is to add value to the economy. Supports fixed term parliaments as in NSW. Supports voluntary voter enrolment and voluntary voting at all levels of government. Supports the earliest possible termination of the GST and the ending of the Business Activity Statements. Supports the introduction of USA style add on retail sales taxes to replace the GST generated revenue stream. This would require a referendum to give State Governments the power to impose such taxes. Would like to see Australia move to a more high powered society and economy as exists in Sweden and Germany. Supports the federal system of government and USA system where each state lives on the taxes it imposes on its residents and visitors.

Thinks the social security system should move away from its ancient pay as you go nature to a more modern system based on individual contributions and entitlements. Supports the introduction of a social security identity card for all participants in such a new system. This is what happens in the USA. Thinks Australia needs to greatly increase its skill levels with radical changes to the educational system. This involves the abandonment of the Higher Education Contribution Scheme for university students. Thinks the entire educational system should put more emphasis on practical skill acquisition. This what happens in Germany.

Supports a major increase in defence spending as envisioned by the recent Defence White Paper released in 2000. Supports the deregulation of the financial system and a flexible exchange rate system. Supports the introduction of monety supply (m3) and credit annual growth rate targeting by the Reserve Bank. Opposed to Reserve Bank intervention in foreign exchange markets to prop up the AUD. A convinced monetarist economist. Given the nature of our balance of payments situation where a large current account deficit is offset by a large capital and financial account surplus , supports the current open door approach to foreign investment and to foreign borrowing activity by Australian entities. Supports a massive deregulation of the industrial relations system as the overregulated system is the main reason why unemployment is so high. Supports freedom of religion and freedom of speech. In general supports the free operation of the capitalist system and so opposes excessive government interference in the running of businesses. Nevertheless supports a protected agricultural commodity marketing system including production quotas and minimum prices as one sees in European countries such as Sweden and Germany.
