Elizabethan Merchant Class Dress
These two outfits are made from the same pattern as the court Elizabethan and are some what generic in nature. The major differences being the lack of foundation garments giving a different silhouette and the accessories. A coif is worn to cover the hair and then a cap added in one case. The jewelled girdles seen in the court dresses has given way to a simple chain with a pomander. Because this is merchant class there some hints of affluence. The metal closures on the bodices, and the bead work on the bodices. The textiles chosen in both outfits is significant also, both have silk used in some way. The partlets have either silk embroidery or lace adorning then. Each of these factors contribute to these outfits being more than peasant clothing. Other accessories are rings, flat cap, earrings, and a necklace.
