Misty was born to Simoom in November, 1993. With most whales, we don't know who the father is, but after some genetic testing was done, Misty was one of the few where the father was identified. Her father is Glenville, or W2.
Often, in a matriline, the calves' fins will take after the matriarch, as will the saddle patch shape. However, in the A12s, most of the whales resemble Simoom's shape, not Scimitar's. Indeed, Scimitar seems to be the odd one out.
Because Misty and a few of her siblings take so much after their mother, its often hard to identify them. Misty is slightly easy because her saddle patch is darker. It still can be confusing, though!
I don't really know much about Misty, other than what I've already said. She was born in late October/early November, and she recently had her first calf! The little one was spotted for the first time early in the 2005 season. It doesn't have an ID number yet-we'll be watching to see if Misty has picked up the tricks of the trade from HER mom!
