This is the Southern Railway passenger schedule for January 12, 1922.

This schedule was during the highlight of railroad passenger service and the Southern included many small regional short-line railroads in its' schedule.

Included were:

The "Louisville, New Albany & Corydon" which ran passenger service between Corydon, Indiana and Corydon Jct.,Indiana a total of 8 miles. Three trains each way operated daily except Sunday. Time in route was 30 minutes. Service was coach only.

"Atlantic & Yadkin Railway", operated service for a distance of 130 miles with two trains daily in each direction. Time in route was 6 1/2 hours with coaches only. Two daily except Sunday trains ran from Climax, NC to Greensboro, NC a distance of 13 miles in 40 minutes.

"Blue Ridge Railway" ran from Belton, SC to Walhalla, SC a distance of 44 miles in around 2 1/2 hours with two daily trains in each direction, plus mixed service from Belton to Anderson and Anderson to Walhalla. A mixed train ran from Walhalla to Seneca.

"Carolina & Northwestern Railway" ran from Chester,SC to Edgemont, NC a distance of 133 miles with a train that ran daily from Chester to Lenoir, NC and a daily except Sunday mixed train from Hickory, NC to Edgemont.

"Carolina & Tennessee Southern Railway" ran from Bushnell, NC to Fontana, NC a distance of 14 miles with one mixed daily except Sunday train in a time of 1 hour and 35 minutes.

"Danville & Western" ran several routes from Danville, Virginia to Stuart, Virginia and Leaksville, NC. The route was about 75 miles with two daily trains to Stuart and two trains to Leaksville.

"Hartwell Railway" operated a 10 mile line from Howersville,GA to Hartwell, GA. with three daily trains in each direction with an additional daily except Sunday train from Hartwell to Bowersville.

The "High Point,Randleman,Asheboro & Southern" ran from High Point to Asheboro, NC with 28 miles of track. There were three mixed trains in each direction with an hour and 55 minutes timecard.

The "Tallulah Falls Railway" ran from Cornelia, GA to Franklin, NC in 58 miles with one daily train in each direction in a timecard of 3 and 1/2 hours.

The "Tennessee & Carolina Southern Railway" ran for 31 miles with one train in each direction in a timecard of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

"Yadkin Railroad" ran for 41 miles with two trains in each direction in two hours and 25 minutes.

The Southern Railway ran the following trains:

Train #1 and #2, the "Royal Palm", from Cincinnati to Jacksonville, Fla., with sleepers from Chicago to Jacksonville, Indianapolis to Jacksonville, Cleveland to Jacksonville, Detroit to Jacksonville, Toledo to Jacksonville, and Grand Rapids to Jacksonville. A dining car from Cincinnati to Atlanta, combined baggage coach from Chicago to Jacksonville, and coaches from Cincinnati to Jacksonville.

Train #3 & #4, the "Ohio Special" ran from Cincinnati to Jacksonville with sleeping car service from Cincinnati to Jacksonville, Cincinnati to New Orleans, a dining car from Cincinnati to Atlanta and Valdosta to Jacksonville, with coaches from Cincinnati to Jacksonville.

Train #5 & #6, the "Suwanee River Special" from Cincinnati to St. Petersburg with sleepers from Cleveland to St. Petersburg, Louisville to St. Petersburg, Cincinnati to Tampa, Cincinnati to Sarasota, St. Louis to Asheville, St. Petersburg to Cincinnati, Knoxville to Cincinnati. Dining service was from Chattanooga to Hampton, Fla., combined baggage coach from Cincinnati to St. Petersburg and coaches from Cincinnati to St. Petersburg.

Train #7 & #8, the "Kansas City-Florida Special" ran from Kansas City to Jacksonville with sleepers from Kansas City to Jacksonville, St. Louis to Jacksonville, Atlanta to Jacksonville, Atlanta to Brunswick with dining service from Kansas City to Birmingham and Birmingham to Atlanta and Jesup to Jacksonville. Coaches ran from Kansas City to Jacksonville.

Train #9 & #10, the "Atlanta-Jacksonville Express" ran from Atlanta to Jacksonville with sleepers from Atlanta to Jacksonville, Atlanta to Valdosta, Macon to Jacksonville with a combined baggage coach from Atlanta to Jacksonville and coaches from Atlanta to Jacksonville.

Train #11 & #12, the "Atlanta-Shreveport Service" ran from Atlanta to Shreveport with sleepers from Atlanta to Shreveport, Atlanta to Birmingham, with a cafe parlor car from Birmingham to Meridian, a dining car form Birmingham to Shreveport, and coaches from Atlanta to Shreveport.

Train #13-28 & #14-27, the "Carolina Special" ran from Cincinnati to Charleston with sleepers from Cincinnati to Chaleston, Cincinnati to Asheville. Dining service was from Cincinnati to Danville(KY) and Knoxville to Charleston. A combined baggage car was run from Cincinnati to Charleston.

Train #31 & #22, was eastern North Carolina service from Goldsboro to Asheville with buffet parlor cars from Goldsboro to Asheville and coaches from Goldsboro to Asheville.

Train #25 & #26, the "Memphis Special" ran from New York to Memphis with sleepers New York to Memphis, Washington to Memphis, Knoxville to Nashville, Chattanooga to Memphis with dining service from Charlottesville to Chattanooga and Corinth to Memphis. Coaches Washington to Memphis.

Train #29 & #30, the "Birmingham Special" ran from New York to Birmingham with sleepers from New York to Birmingham, Washington to Birmingham, Washington to Atlanta, Richmond(Va) to Atlanta, and San Francisco to Washington. Dining car Washington to Monroe, Charlotte to Birmingham with coaches from Washington to Birmingham.

Train #31 & #32, the "Augusta Special" ran from New York to Augusta, Ga., with sleepers from New York to Augusta, Washington to Columbia, Winston-Salem to Washington, New York to Asheville, Washington to Asheville, Raleigh to Asheville. Dining car service ran from Washington to Monroe(southbound), Salisbury to Asheville. Coaches ran from Wshington to Augusta.

Train #35 & #36, the "New York, Washington, Atlanta, New Orleans Express" ran from New York to New Orleans with sleepers from New York to New Orleans, New York to Birmingham, New York to Atlanta. Dining car service ran from Washington to Grenville, Atlanta to Montgomery, Montgomery to New Orleans. Coaches ran the length of the route from New York to New Orleans.

Train #37 & #38, the "New York and New Orleans Express". This was an all-Pullman train from New York to New Orleans with Southern Railway run Club car service from Washington to New Orleans, sleepers from New York to New Orleans, New York to Macon, Washington to New Orleans. A parlor car was run from Atlanta to Montgomery, Dining car from Greensboro to Montgomery, Mobile to New Orleans(southbound).

Train #39-104 & #40-103, the "Atlanta-Memphis Express" ran from Atlanta to Memphis with sleeoers from Atlanta to Memphis, cafe-parlor-observation car from Atlanta to Birmingham, coaches from Atlanta to Memphis.

Train #41 & #42, the "Wshington, Chattanooga, and New Orleans Limited" ran from New York to Chattanooga and Chattanooga to New Orleans with sleepers from New York to New Orleans and New York to Shreveport, Washington to New Orleans, Washington to Chattanooga, Washington to Roanoke. Dining car service was run from Roanoke to Birmingham and Hattiesburg to New Orleans. Coaches ran from Washington to Chattanooga and Chattanooga to New Orleans.

Train #3-41 & #12-4, the "Cincinnati-New Orleans Limited", ran from Cincinnati to New Orleans with sleepers from Cincinnati to New Orelans, Birmingham to New Orleans, Birmingham to Mobile, Birmingham to Shreveport, New York to New Orleans, New York to Shreveport, Washington to New Orleans. Dining service ran from Cincinnati to Birmingham, and Hattiesburg to New Orleans. Coaches ran from Cincinnati to Chattanooga to New Orleans.

Train #43, the "Crescent City Special(southbound), #44 "Queen City Special" (northbound).

Train #136 & #136, the "Atlanta Special" ran from New York to Atlanta with sleepers from New York to Columbus, Ga., New York to Macon, Atlanta to Washington, Washington to Atlanta, Washington to Winston-Salem, Atlanta to Richmond, Asheville to New York, Asheville to Washington, Washington to San Francisco, Asheville to Raleigh. Dining car Greensboro to Atlanta, Monroe to Washington, coaches Washington to Atlanta.
