On February 2, 2006 we had to make a tough decision w/Sam. After a year's fight with a slow build up of fluid in his abdomen, Sam became unable to walk. We decided at this point to do the best thing for him and let him go to the happy play ground in the sky. Sam, you were one of the best dogs I'll ever know...thank you for your patience on being the "first"...I will always have a very special spot in my heart for such a wonderful friend.

November 22, 1993 - February 2, 2006

Sam was rescued from the local Humane Society (after being found as a stray 4 weeks earlier) on November 20, 1994. He came to me a bit shy and very scared, he was obviously collie, and we later ILP'ed him as one through the AKC. Sam started his first obedience class two days after he was brought home...and ever since then he has been 'my buddy' and a great dog. Sam is a big ham bone and show-off, he loves to do demonstrations...all he needs is a crowd of 300 laughing at him!! Sam has since received his UKC CD, his AKC CD, and his ASCA CD, and has tried nine, yes nine times to get a CDX leg, but he blows it! Sam took and passed his Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) with flying colors, and his International Therapy Dog (TDI). Sam had been training utility for about nine months before he started showing in graduate open (half open, half utility) for 4-H. Sam did great in 4-H that year with a grand champion in grad. open, and one in brace. Sam will probably not contiune competitonal obedience much longer, but he may contiune to do minimal agility. Sam is < ahref="http://www.usdaa.com">USDAA registered. He has taken only one agility class; it was through Minnesota's 'most prestigious' agility club; Central Agility Club of Minnesota. He has recently finished his UJHP-I. Since I'm aging out of USDAA Jr.s I think it'll be the last title he gets with me.
