State Fair Stock Dog Trial 2002
Wysk and I tried our hands at the Minnesota State Fair's Annual Stock Dog Trial this year. Because we have less then one year of actual trialing experience we got to be in the Rookie Class. The course was inside a huge coloseium and loads of fun. There was a small outrun/gather, then we had to take the sheep counterclockwise around 2 cones, put them through the Y Chute, and then into a free-standing pen. Wysk is a wild man, so I never know what to expect. He surprised me though, and managed to listen fairly well (we only lost the sheep once!). Wysk ended up getting 3rd place out of 8 dogs (I think it was 8 anyway, my catalog was off, so I'm going by memory). Not too shabby one little bit! The pictures aren't the greatest, but you get the general idea. AND you get an idea of how FAST things move when this wild sheltie works stock. Enjoy.

        The outrun/gather.

Wysk bringing the sheep to me after his outrun/gather.

Counterclockwise around the cones, after the gather and before the Y Chute.

        Out of the Y Chute.

Attemping to get Wysk to lay DOWN before the free-standing pen.

The one, and ONLY time we lost sheep.

The Free-Standing Pen (horrible, awful thing)
