Kim and Dino featured on the show 'Guinea Pig: Kung Fu Fighting' on the Discovery Channel Canada. In this episode, Ryan Stock and AmberLynn seek out the ancient wisdom that turned human bodies into living weapons. They interview our friend Bob Koh in Calgary who demonstrated pressure point techniques. They then profiled Sensei Poon Chan in Ottawa as he demonstrated the hard training involved in the Goju-Ryu, Sanchin practice. The highlight of the show was the demonstration of Iron Shirt training by Kim and Dino. |

Martial Arts Gala 2004 held at the Carleton University Alumni Theater. Organized by John Hum, this show provided demonstrations of Praying Mantis, Hung Gar, Tai Chi Chuan, White Crane and other martial arts styles. There was a similar show organized in 2000. Public displays for Chinese martial arts in Ottawa can be found during the Asian Heritage Month or events organized by the Ottawa Chinatown Business Association (OCBA). |

There was a Shaolin White
Crane school in Ottawa who trained near the Byward martket. The
teacher (Scott ? ) was taught a White Crane family style by some
one from Beijing while he was growing up in Montreal |

There was a Shorinji Kempo school that trained on Cambridge Street. Sensei Nobuaki Nakamura moved to Toronto and the remaining students, Dave and Matt, eventually stopped teaching. Mr. Rodiriguez, a Shorinji Kempo instructor from Portugal now residing in Montreal also contributed to the club. |

In the 1990's, Park, Jung Taek of Jung Park Tae Kwon Do moved West to head the Global Winnipeg Taekwon-Do (founded by Park Jung Tae in the 1970's). Park Jung Taek, together with Park Jung-tae and Han Sam-su was some of the top assistants to General Choi Hong-hi (the founder of ITF Tae Kwon Do). Jung Park's Ottawa operation was transferred to Mr. Phap Lu. Many of the current ITF schools can trace their lineage back to Jung Park Taek. Jung Park Taek later moved from Winnipeg to Vienna to become the secretary of the ITF and later moved away. Please let me know if you know his current whereabouts. |

In 1974 Dr. Kabayama Michiomi was teaching Kendo at the the Takahashi Judo Club in Ottawa. In 1988, his son, Kabayama Makoto opened a school ( Kabayama Bushidokan ) in Toronto that teaches Jeet Kune Do concepts. Makoto also trained with Nonoy Gallano (Classical Combat Eskrima-Kali Association) in Toronto. Nonoy has students training in Ottawa and sometimes comes to Ottawa to give seminars. |
