Evil Dead
--The gang is driving in the car on their way to the cabin. They have a close call with a truck. After this, a bottle of what appears to be moonshine appears in the driver's hand.
--As the car starts to drive over the bridge, you can see someone standing to the right, although the place is supposed to be deserted. Axxording to the commentary, this is the Producer of the film, Robert Tapert.
--When they arrive, it is day-time & the sun is out. When the guy, Scotty enters the cabin & then turns on the light, you can see it's suddenly gotten a lot darker outside.
--As Scotty starts to walk around the room, he passes by a window. You can see the camera man in the reflection in the window.
--A drink is shown in a blender. The drink is bright red. But, in the next shot, as they pour it, it's a much deeper red, almost purple.
--Ash goes into the cellar & looks around the entire room. Notice, there's nothing dripping from the ceiling. Then he looks up & suddenly we're shown a shot of the pipes dripping like mad.
--A shot is shown of the moon in the sky over the cabin. Not only can you see the square matte around it, it actually wiggles in the sky. Some may even say the moon is far too large in the sky. This happens a few times in the film.
--Ash & his girlfriend are playing "eye games" with each other. He's holding a jewelry box in one hand. She's reaching across his & has her right hand on the box. Suddenly, she catches him. In the next shot, she's sitting back with the box in her left hand.
--When the one girl becomes possessed, she's floating in front of the window. As she does this, you can see that there's a black cloth covering the window from outside simulating darkness.
--The moon is seen wobbling again. Even though it is a few hours later, the moon is still in the same spot.
--The girl is locked in the basement. Scotty starts to get nervous & says "We'll take the bridge!". But Ash & his girlfriend already checked the bridge & it was collapsed. Why doesn't Ash tell him the bridge is broken?
--Scotty then goes into the bathroom. If you look at the "walls" you can see they are just big pieces of yellow paper stapled together.
--Ash is thrown into a shelving cabinet. When he does, he breaks all of the shelves off the sides of the cabinet. Yet, when he throws the cabinet off of him, the shelves are connected to one side.
--Notice too when he falls, the piece that traps him doesn't fall on him. It cuts away & when it cuts back, the cabinet is on him.
--Also notice the piece that's trapping him is nowhere near heavy enough to pin him down.
--Scotty is standing by the window. He has scratches on his right cheek. Ash walks up & they start to talk. Now, the scratches are on his left cheek.
--Scotty is attacked & returns to the cabin. Ash sits him down on the couch. Scotty has a ring of blood that goes down both cheeks & meets under his chin. Almost like a blood-goatee. In the shot where blood come out of his mouth, the blood-goatee is gone. This blood dribbles down his chin & neck. In the next shot, this blood is gone & the "goatee" returns.
--Ash's girlfriend returns to "normal" & starts to cry. You can see tears running down her cheeks. In the next shot, when she hugs Ash, the tears are gone.
--The girl in the basement crashes her hands through the floor & grabs Ash. In the shot where Ash is biting her thumb, you can see a piece of the latex hand by the index finger has ripped, revealing the real hand underneath.
--Outside, Ash bends down to pick up his girlfriend's body to bury her. You can see she sits up by herself to let him get under her.
--She returns to "life" & Ash sttacks her with a wooden beam. As he hits her body on the ground, you can see the beam breaks in half. He holds the halves together to hide this fact. In the next shot, he's holding a shorter piece of the beam.
--He cuts off her head & blood squirts all over his face & shirt. But when he returns to the cabin, his face has just a little blood, while his shirt is dry & hardly bloody at all. In fact, throughout the rest of the movie, the amount of blood changes on him. He also goes from wet to dry to wet again a few times as well. Most noticable is when he goes into the cellar... --He's in the cellar when a pipe breaks & drenches him with blood. Then a few shots later & he's dry & almost spotless. This happens after the lightbulb explodes.
--A movie camera turns on & shines on Ash. We see blood drip onto the lens, landing in the middle & dripping down. But the picture we see on the wall has blood pouring from the top.
--When the lightbulb explodes you can see the Christmas light hanging down that was inside, that was the real source of the light.
--The girl gets shot in the face through the door. When she turns, you can see the rubber tube that the blood is squirting out of next to her cheek.
--At the end, when Ash exits the cabin, you can see the holes in the door are smooth cut-outs. They are different than when the door was broken through by the girl's arms.
A damn scary movie. Maybe the scariest movie ever.
WHYNOTS
When the girl stabs the other girl in the ankle with the pencil, first the pencil is sharp & pointed. After she takes it out & we see the pencil, you can see it was broken off to give the illusion that it entered her ankle.
WHYNOT: The pencil was broken off in her ankle & that's why it appears broken. Plus, the pencil did actually enter the ankle figuring it was a fake ankle.
When Ash & the girl check out the bridge, she walks far from the car & when she turns & runs back, she's close to it.
WHYNOT: It's the same distance. In one shot of her by the bridge, the car does seem farther away than it actually is. This is because it's only 2 spotlights & not a real car in this shot & also because the effect the lens of the camera gives the lights.
