If it’s no less than raw, classic caliber, soulful “rock n’ roll” you hunger for then South West Dirt has a menu for you. A four piece classic rock cover band based out of Chatham Ontario, South West Dirt consists of Mike Copley –lead vocals, Nate Spicer – lead guitar and backup vocals, Gavin Dawson – bass guitar and Simon Coleman – drums. Each member, coming from various former bands and musical backgrounds, came together in May of 2002. Little did they know, it would be the starting point for one of the best classic rock cover bands around. It’s not just the powerful, broad ranged, hypnotizing lead vocals of Mike, or Nate’s thickset, rustic, “sends shivers down your spine” guitar playing. Nor alone the tight, hard hitting, “better have a dental plan” beat and low tone soul of Simon and Gavin as the rhythm section. It’s all the above as one entity that makes this band stand out.
