Grandpa's Temptation Fruit Cake

  • Preheat oven to 300oF.
  • Combine fruit, nuts, juice, molasses, and flavoring spices. Mix well. Let stand.
  • Sift flour, salt, and baking soda.
  • Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Stir in flour mixture. Fold into fruit mixture.
  • Turn into two greased 8x4 1/2 pans. Cook for 1 3/4 to 2 hours.

  • Yield: 24 servings.
1 Lb glazed fruit
1 Cup almonds
1 Cup rasins
1 Cup currants
1/2 Cup fruit juice
1/4 Cup molasses
2 Tbsp brandy
1 Tsp cinnamon
1 Tsp nutmeg
1 Tsp all spice
1/2 Tsp mace
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 Tsp salt
1/4 Tsp baking soda
1/2 Cup butter
3/4 Cup brown sugar
3 Eggs
