Jam Stripe Bars
3/4 Cup margarine
1/2 Tsp cinnamon
1/2 Cup sugar
1/8 Tsp cloves
1 Egg
1/2 Cup jam
2 Cups flour
1/2 Cup powdered sugar
3/4 Cup ground walnuts
1/2 Tsp vanilla
1/2 Tsp salt
2 Tsp milk
Heat oven to 350
o
F.
Lightly grease 13x9 pan.
In large gowl, beat margarine, sugar, and egg until well combined.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off.
Stir flour, nuts, salt, cinnamon, and cloves into egg mixture. Mix well.
Press evenly in bottom of prepared pan.
With moistened fingers, make 7 diagonal indentations 1/2 inch deep in dough. Fill evenly with jam.
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until firm to touch and edges are a light golden brown.
In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over top.
Cool completely before cutting.
Yield: 32 bars.
