Jam Stripe Bars
3/4 Cup margarine
1/2 Tsp cinnamon
1/2 Cup sugar
1/8 Tsp cloves
1 Egg
1/2 Cup jam
2 Cups flour
1/2 Cup powdered sugar
3/4 Cup ground walnuts
1/2 Tsp vanilla
1/2 Tsp salt
2 Tsp milk
  • Heat oven to 350oF.
  • Lightly grease 13x9 pan.
  • In large gowl, beat margarine, sugar, and egg until well combined.
  • Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off.
  • Stir flour, nuts, salt, cinnamon, and cloves into egg mixture. Mix well.
  • Press evenly in bottom of prepared pan.
  • With moistened fingers, make 7 diagonal indentations 1/2 inch deep in dough. Fill evenly with jam.
  • Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until firm to touch and edges are a light golden brown.
  • In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over top.
  • Cool completely before cutting.

  • Yield: 32 bars.
