Poached Pears

3 Winter pears
1/2 Cup water
1/4 Cup granulated sugar or honey
1/2 Lemon
  • Pour water and sugar into a small saucepan and boil over high heat 3 minutes.
  • Quarter and core pears (do not peel) and slice into pan. Squeeze juice of 1/2 lemon over pears.
  • Cover pan and simmer pears over medium heat 6 to 7 minutes.
  • Serve pears at room temperature with syrup from pan.

  • Yield: 2 servings.
