LOST IN SPACE
This is the original "SPACE POD" model from the 1960's series "Lost In Space" The pod is constructed out of wood and has very detailed metal turned jet exhausts and landing gear.  The rear door is functional.  This model is quite large as compared to the smaller Jupiter 2 model which is lying next to it.

The Space Pod was also featured in an episode of "Land Of The Giants", another Irwin Allen show.  Irwin Allen re-used many of the props and models from his shows to save money.  I had the chance to meet Gary Conway who played Pilot Steve Burton from the "Giants" series.  My prop collector friend also did some work for Gary's company. I had the opportunity to set up a screening room to view some 16mm prints of the show.  Gary and his wife came and it was so cool to watch the show I had loved from the 60's with the actor who played the part!!!
This picture shows the scale of the 2 props.  Quite a difference!  The Jupiter model was found by my friend as it was being thrown away into a dumpster at one of the studios!!  From the bottom with the landing gear missing he said it looked like a giant reel-to-reel spool from "Land Of The Giants".  When he asked the guys from the studio if he could have it he finally realized what it was when they turned it around.  In addition to the landing gear missing there were additional holes drilled into the hull for windows. The model was used in a failed Irwin Allen pilot called "Man From The 25th Century" starring James Darren from "Time Tunnel".  The model needed extensive restoration.   The engine core can be seen to the right of the Jupiter. It's top dome was in the process of being remade.   The little figures in the window are hand carved out of wood.  To the right of the Jupiter you can also see one of the Jupiter 2's main control panels and on top of that is a panel from the  Gil Gerrard T.V. series "Buck Roger's".
